His distinctive style is a seamless articulation of jazz, blues, gospel and roots influences delivered with an elegance that belies his age. The Broesler School of Irish Dance, under the direction of Kevin Broesler, is recognized as one of the leading Irish Dance schools in the United States. Broesler School dancers have competed and won awards at regional, national, and international competitions. They have performed with many Irish musicians, including The Chieftains and Eileen Ivers -- the fiddler of River Dance fame -- and they have danced at the White House, the Kennedy Center, and the Meyerhoff in Baltimore. They have also performed throughout the Baltimore/Annapolis/D.C. area at various festivals, at weddings and other celebrations, and at many local churches and retirement/nursing homes.
Brothers and Sisters - Annapolis City Hall, 5 - 6 p.m.
The Brothers and Sisters is a local, vocal band comprised of singers Donna Fischer, Hollis Minor, Lincoln Minor, and singers and musicians Don Lamb-Minor, Gary Peresta, and Jon Arason. It is not a dance band but a band that delivers solid show of infectious classics with inspiring harmony-rich vocals guaranteed to make the audience tap their feet on a trip down Memory Lane. The group covers Folk, Rock, Country, & Doo Wop music from the '50s to current hits. The group has headlined at many local venues including the (sold-out) Rams Head on Stage, City Dock, Annapolis First Night, and the Eastport Maritime Museum. It has a large Annapolis following.

The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums was founded in 1985 to provide the very finest in Scottish and Irish bagpipe and drum music. Since that time the band has appeared in parades, concerts, musical competitions, and other performances throughout Maryland, the Mid Atlantic region and neighboring Canadian provinces. Among the band’s annual performances are St. Patrick’s Day parades in Ocean City and Baltimore, the Chestertown Tea Party Parade, and the Independence Day parade in Woodstown, New Jersey.
Each year the band appears in concert at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and in Annapolis on New Year’s Eve. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 the band finished in first place among all bagpipe bands marching in the Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day parade.
The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums is sponsored by the Robert Burns Society of Annapolis and associated with the St. Andrew’s Society of the Eastern Shore. The band wears the Ancient MacDonald tartan. The band’s logo, depicted on its bass drum, combines the rampant lion of Scotland and the arms of the state of Maryland. A Maryland blue crab, symbolic of the Chesapeake Bay region, serves as the band’s cap badge. The band is under the overall direction of Pipe Major Robert Wallace of Annapolis.
Clones of Funk - St. Mary's Marian Hall, 10 - 11 p.m., 11 - 11:30 p.m.
In 1989 a group of fans and musicians, dedicated to the music of Parliament and Funkadelic held a Funk Mob Reunion in Annapolis, Maryland. The reunion went on to become an annual function. In 1990, George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton, having heard of the band, was invited to witness his clones. Being moved by the talent of the band, George joined in the performance. A few years later, he invited the band to play for his birthday party in New York City. George continues his high regard for this group, and his wish to “get in the studio with you guys” was granted in November 2000. George brought members of his P-Funk Allstars to mix vibes with the Clones of Funk with the session ending after dawn. The Clones have recently released a CD with two original singles, “Funky Ones” and “Dedicated to the P.” Still based in Annapolis, the band has been the featured band at the Maryland Seafood Festival at Sandy Point State Park, and have wowed the crowds at the Kunta Kinte Festival of African Heritage, First Night Annapolis and at the Summer Concert Series at Fort Dupont Park, in Washington, DC. The Clones have played many clubs in the area and have opened for Mandrill in 2006 and for Lakeside and the Bar-Kays in 2008 at the Carter Barron Amphitheater with enthusiastic response from the Washington, D.C., crowds. In 2007 they were part of the Safeway Barbecue Battle in D.C. Labor Day weekend 2008, they participated in the Kipona Festival in Harrisburg, Pa.

Award winning singer songwriter performer James David Baldwin has won awards from the WSA, FBSA, and the Portland, Oregon, Songwriters Association. Dave, who has played around Annapolis and the surrounding area for years, joins hands with bassist Gary Peresta (also of Up on Blocks, TIPSC, the Barley Mob, and the Brothers and Sisters) to play both originals and cover classic hits from the past. He has produced a CD, Hands of Time, and is currently finishing his second CD, Blown Away. Dave and Gary have performed together at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center's Open House in 2008 and 2009, Walk for Life, the New Year's Annapolis celebration, Old Mill Community Day, coffee house and pub venues in greater Annapolis, and numerous private parties.

The Free State Trio performs Irish Traditional dance music, topical songs, and ballads in a unique, traditional style native to Maryland. The ensemble's rotating membership is comprised of Maryland's foremost Irish Traditional musicians and singers, who are internationally recognized for having established a particular local repertoire and style that distinguish Maryland as a center for Irish Traditional music on the world stage. The New Year's Annapolis performance will feature Peter Brice (button accordion, songs), the director of the Baltimore Singers Club, Spencer Nitchie (tenor banjo), editor in-chief of the Banjo Newsletter, and Sean Earnest (guitar, bouzouki), a rising young accompanist whose talents are increasingly in demand on both sides of the Atlantic.

Taking its name from the lively annual musical celebration held in the Bahamas, Goombay transports you on a musical journey of the Caribbean Islands. Hear the steel drum and join a carnival parade as Goombay brings a taste of Caribbean spice to Annapolis. Goombay's talented line-up includes David Boothman (keyboard, steel drums) and Diann Marshall (vocals, dance) both from the island of Trinidad, along with Annapolis native Elizabeth Melvin (marimba, percussion.)

Jack Julius is a full time professional magician, entertainer, and mime artist and also a teacher of the Magical and Mime arts. He has been performing professionally for over 25 years. Rekindling an old childhood passion, Jack Julius has been intimately involved with magic since 1970 performing his first professional show at the age of twelve and later incorporated Mime to complete his unique performance style. Over these years Mr. Julius has had countless performances for private clients as well as some of the largest corporate clients in and out of the country even at the White House. He has also won many awards in the magic and dance communities. He has been on TV and in commercials and in music videos. He has been teaching for over 20 years. He has taught at the Maryland Council of Dance and many other fine institutions. He is also well versed in the art of street performing magic, mime and dance. He continues to raise the bar and keep up with the times by adding many new features, illusions and entertainment to his shows. Recently in the last eight years he incorporated his wife, Tanya, into the show. Sometime you may even catch him performing Magic & Mime in the streets around the country or even locally at the Baltimore Inner Harbor or in the streets of Annapolis.

From its birth in 1973 to the present as the centerpiece of Live Arts Maryland, the Annapolis Chorale has grown in size, sound and scope to become one of the largest and most active performing ensembles in the region. Its mission continues to be to make life in this region richer and more enjoyable by performing the best live music. The Annapolis Chorale’s 180 singers hail from communities in Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince Georges, Baltimore and Calvert Counties and performs a full season of concerts from September through May with a repertoire that includes classical masterworks and the best in Broadway and pops music. Under the leadership of Music Director J. Ernest Green, the Annapolis Chorale has earned a reputation for excellence, creativity and innovative programming. The Chorale has performed at Carnegie Hall twice to rave reviews and reviewers consistently use such phrases as “Grand and glorious singing,” “Filled and brimming over with talent,” and “Fresh approach to music making” to describe the Chorale.The Annapolis Youth Chorus - St. Anne's Church, 5 - 6 p.m. & 6 - 7 p.m.
Under the direction of Jill Woodward, the Annapolis Youth Chorus has for eight years led the pack in giving young singers in the Annapolis area fun musical experiences while teaching strong ensemble singing, musicianship AND building a strong vocal repertoire. The Annapolis Youth Chorus is open to all students entering 3rd grade through 12th grade regardless of race, religion, or creed.

We got together in the summer of 2002 at the request of our Pastor. We formed the band and started practicing. Before we knew it, we were leading worship at Kent Island United Methodist Church every Sunday at the 9:30 worship service. Leading worship at our home church is still our first love and primary commitment. Well, praise God. Since we started, we have made two CDs and played at coffee house events as well as a poverty awareness concert. We have also played a concert at KIUMC, played in Nashville and a few outdoor Christian music festivals.

A New Year's Annapolis favorite, the Rob Levit Trio is one of the best loved jazz groups in the mid-Atlantic region, anchored by acoustic bassist Amy Shook, one of the few women acoustic jazz bass virtuoso in the world, and master drummer Frank Russo. Together, they create a seamless mix of jazz, world, classical, and funk grooves that is rapidly vaulting them to national and international status. Led by guitarist/composer/visual artist Rob Levit, The Trio performs nationwide. Rob Levit has also appeared on the mainstage of the Montreal Jazz Festival, Texaco New York Jazz Festival, and the National Arts Centre as part of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival/ Their recently released CD, Uncertain Path, was played on NPR's Morning Edition and reviewed in over a dozen national media outlets, including Jazz Times, Jazz Improv, and All About Jazz. Rob is also a noted community activist as Founding Director of Creating Communities, an organization that has delivered countless arts programs to at-risk youth, the mentally-ill, adults in drug recovery and many more. Rob has been twice named "Best Jazz Performer" by What's Up Annapolis magazine
Sons of the Severn - First Presbyterian Church, 8 - 9 p.m., 9 - 10 p.m.
The Sons of the Severn is a barbershop chorus chartered by the SPEBSQSA, the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. Located in Anne Arundel County, it is the third oldest chapter in the Mid-Atlantic District. Though many of our members are retired those of us who still work represent a wide and diversified range of professions and ages. The Anne Arundel Chapter was organized on October 25, 1949, when the society was about 11 years old. It was first known as the Annapolis Chapter, changing to its present name in 1958 in an effort to become more representative of the entire county.

The Art Space, Center for the Performing Arts, proudly presents song and dance for the whole family. Broadway In Concert and the TAS Dance Company as they sing and dance their way to the New Year. These student companies will perform a musical review of Broadway favorites including songs and dances from "Hairspray," "The Wiz" and "Wicked." "We are delighted to entertain our community friends and family as we ring in the New Year," says Priscilla Smith, Founder and Director of the Art Space. The Art Space offers a fresh approach to music, dance and theater. Located in West Annapolis, the school's mission is to enhance the lives of students regardless of age or ability. "We strive to create an environment in which the new, as well as seasoned students, can explore, and expand their artistic reality.
