Sailing into 2009, our December 31, 2008, Celebration
New Year’s Annapolis is a celebration of the arts and community! Enjoy a safe, family orientated environment featuring a diverse and entertaining schedule of events throughout the City.
The creativity and incredible talent of the many artists performing in and around downtown and beyond will “wow” you in this celebration, “Where Annapolis is the Stage.”
Window performances, interactive venues and live musical entertainment will showcase Annapolis’ historic ability to bring a community together in the spirit of the arts. Maritime, as always with Annapolis, will be a re-occurring theme and will be a focal part of the evening's fun.
Ledo Pizza, soft drinks and water will be available: at the Rec Center, from 3-7:30 p.m., at St. Mary's Marian Hall from 8-11:30 p.m., and at City Dock, from 5 p.m. on. Starbucks will provide FREE hot chocolate, coffee and latte to button holders at City Dock.
Activities for children will begin at the City of Annapolis' Recreation Center at 3 p.m. Read more... Big Vanilla's climbing wall will be set up on City Dock from 5 - 11 p.m.

Designated Drivers: Register at the Drink Responsibly Tent on City Dock, sponsored by Miller Lite and Buck Distributing, and you will be treated to free coffee and soft drinks at designated bars and restaurants throughout Annapolis. UPDATE: due to chilly weather, this has been moved to Pusser's, from 5-8 p.m.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, master ice sculptors from Trimps Ice Art work their magic. Each performance venue will be marked by an ice sculpture.
Enjoy TWO fireworks displays! The Verizon Wireless Family Plan Fireworks at 7:30 for families with little ones and, to ring in the new year at midnight - the ARINC Fireworks.
A special event for runners! Fleet Feet Annapolis is sponsoring the Last Run of the Year at 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Lace on your running shoes and run up Main Street, finishing at City Dock. New registration deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 30. Read more...
The event buttons that grant you admission are only $15. Children under age 5 will be admitted free. All venues are handicapped accessible. The celebration will take place rain or shine.
